Man burned in industrial accident
The recovery process from severe burns is often lengthy, painful and could potentially be filled with life-threatening complications. Often, burns require specialized treatment that can quickly result in significant medical costs. When these injuries happen as a result of an industrial accident, victims in California and in other areas of the country may be entitled to workers’ compensation insurance benefits.
Unfortunately, a man in another state may be entitled to such benefits after he was reportedly seriously injured in a workplace accident. The incident is said to have happened just before 9 a.m. on a day in February at Omnipure Filter Company. According to reports, the victim was working on machinery that sends products into an oven.
Reports indicate that the man somehow became entangled in the equipment. As a result, he was pulled up against the machinery. Though he had been extricated before rescue workers arrived at the scene, reports indicate that he suffered severe burns. He was transported to the hospital by ambulance.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration reports that it has been notified of the incident and is investigating. While the results of the investigation may prevent other employees from suffering similar injuries in the future, they will likely do little to help the victim as he recovers from his injuries. In addition to medical expenses, his financial situation could be further complicated by lost wages. Though he may be entitled to workers’ comp benefits, he may feel that he is not in a condition that will allow him to pursue an adequate settlement. Many industrial accident victims in California often choose to seek guidance from an attorney with experience with the process to help ensure fair treatment.
