Firefighter becomes victim of work-related accident
When an accident happens in California or in other areas across the country, firefighters are often the first ones rushing to the scene, often at the risk of their own safety. They are dedicated to helping victims. Unfortunately, a firefighter in another state is being mourned after he was involved in a work-related accident.
The firefighter, a 30-year-old man still in the probationary period, was responding to an accident on a bridge. One evening on a day in January, a vehicle overturned on the bridge. The occupants, according to reports, were trapped inside.
Reports indicate that the firefighter was attempting to approach the accident on foot. He was reportedly trying to cross a gap approximately 3 feet wide that separated the east and west lanes of traffic. Unfortunately, he slipped through a gap separating the lanes, causing him to fall over 50 feet. He died as a result of his injuries.
Unfortunately, a family is now left to cope with the unexpected death of the loved one. Most families in California and across the country are unprepared — both financially and emotionally — for this scenario. To help with the financial consequences of their loss, families who lose loved ones in a work-related accident are often entitled to workers’ compensation insurance benefits which can help cover lost wages and funeral expenses, among other costs. Because families coping with such a loss are often unprepared to deal with the complications of the compensation process, many seek guidance from an experienced professional who can guide them throughout the process.
