2 men killed in California workplace accident
Workers face hazards as they complete their job-related tasks every day that they report to work, regardless of their occupation. Though many employers work hard to keep employees safe, a workplace accident can still occur. Unfortunately, two men recently lost their lives in an accident in California.
The incident happened just after 11 a.m. on a day in early January. According to reports, two men, ages 31 and 66, were attempting to repair an almond shaker machine that stopped working. One of the men is said to have crawled underneath the machine and disconnected hydraulic hoses that worked the shaker arm.
Unfortunately, reports indicate that the arm was still raised at the time. When the hoses were disconnected, the arm collapsed on the two men, crushing them. Cal Fire and other emergency workers respondent to the incident. The men, whose identities were not released in the immediate aftermath of the accident, were pronounced dead at the scene.
The California Occupational Safety and Health Administration are conducting an investigation to determine exactly what caused the workplace accident. In the meantime, the family members of the two men are likely still working on coming to terms with the news of their unexpected losses. Additionally, they may also be struggling as a result of the financial consequences.
